Julie Francis – Principal, BellaVia Research

Julie has specialized in user research since before the term "user experience" was coined. She has a solid track record of helping clients uncover the insights they need to make informed business decisions. With 20+ years of experience across a range of research methodologies and industries, she is uniquely positioned to design and execute research plans for nearly any client objective.

Julie is a skilled interviewer, utilizing a range of traditional and innovative methodologies in both group and one-on-one settings. For usability and UX projects, Julie's background in customer experience strategy and interface design uniquely qualifies her to uncover both strategic and tactical usability issues, always with an eye on the overall business goals.

Prior to launching BellaVia Research, Julie worked with Creative Good in New York City and San Francisco. Julie was one of the first employees of Socratic Technologies in San Francisco, and first dove into qualitative research during her time at Audits and Surveys Worldwide. Julie holds a BA from Wesleyan University and moderator training certificates from the RIVA Institute. She resides in Santa Cruz, CA with her husband and two young daughters.

Fred Bové, Senior Researcher & Director of Client Services

Fred has delivered strategic insights that drive informed business decisions for more than 20 years. He is seasoned in quantitative research and equally at home pouring over heaps of data as he is diving deep into consumer motivations in a qualitative setting.

Fred is an intuitive and highly skilled moderator. Over the course of his career, he has moderated literally hundreds of focus groups, triads, dyads, and in-depth interviews with a broad range of consumer, business-to-business, and C-level audiences. When you mention a research topic, there's a pretty good chance Fred has experience with it.

His current areas of focus are user experience, visitor experience, brand & messaging evaluation, and new product testing.

Before joining the BellaVia Research team in 2011, he was President and Founder of the Mariposa Group, a market research company specializing in niche audiences including GLBT and ethnic consumers. He was also with Socratic Technologies, where until 2003, he worked as Executive Vice President of North American Accounts.
